Hungarian Post Ltd no longer has a monopoly on the country’s postal services after Parliament approved a law allowing private companies to offer postal services as well. However, politicians still declared Hungarian Post Ltd the universal postal service provider until 2020, in an effort to have one stable and reliable company that can provide cheap services for everyone. The new law allows the company to receive state compensation for financial losses.
