Pál Schmidt and István Kalmár, the CEO and Chairman of MPVI Mobil, have resigned. Viktor Biro and Tamás Imre will fill the positions on an interim basis until permanent replacements can be found. MPVI is owned by the Hungarian Postal Services, Hungarian Development Bank and the Hungarian Electricity Works.
In September, a court nullified the result of a mobile phone frequency tender won by MPVI, finding that under regulations valid at the time of the tender, a state-owned company was not eligible to bid, making MPVI’s victory invalid. However, the court said Mtel, Telenor, Vodafone were also unlawfully awarded frequency blocks.
