Hundreds of Hungarian students protested against the government’s plan to cut subsidies for college tuition. They marched through Budapest to Parliament demanding the resignation of Rózsa Hoffmann, the education secretary. Students are also calling for a comprehensive overhaul of the higher education system, an increase in the number of students admitted to universities with full scholarships. The government proposed earlier this month that only 10,480 higher education students would receive full scholarships each year.
