Hungarian unemployment increases to 3.4%

The unemployment rate in Hungary increased to 3.4 percent between May and July, up from 3.3 percent reported in the previous quarter, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). However the May-July rate was still better than the 3.6 percent reported a year earlier. A total of 157,900 people between the ages of 15 and 74, were unemployed during the three-month period, 2,400 more than the previous quarter, but 8,300 less than a year ago. By comparison, the May-July employment rate was 60.9 percent.
