Hungary has to face two main economic problems

13 May 2025

Hungarian economy has to face two serious problems- according to Julia Kiraly, vice-president of the Hungarian National Bank. The first is Hungary’s foreign net debt, because it has reached the country’s GDP’s 50%. The second problem is the banking system’s credit deposit and the fact that if a country is indebted, it becomes more and more expensive to finance the debt. She thinks that the economic problems were because of the bad fiscal policy, but the government and the bank could redress the issue. The main purpose is to have an economic turn, but this could be done only after the agreement with IMF.
