Hungary’s GDP increased by 4.9 percent y-o-y in the second quarter, according to data published by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. In the first six months of 2019, the economy grew by 5.2 percent, up from 4.8 percent during the same period a year earlier. Hungary’s updated Convergence Programme puts GDP growth for the year at 4 percent. The construction and industrial sectors were the main growth drivers. While the industrial output volume dropped by 1.4 percent y-o-y in June, industrial export grew by 0.2 percent y-o-y.
The industrial production grew in three regions: Budapest (1.7 percent), Pest (1.6 percent), and the Northern Great Plain (0.3 percent).
