Hungary’s real wages up 7.4% in 2016

Real wages in Hungary increased by 7.4 percent y-o-y in 2016, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Consumer prices also increased by 0.4 percent from 2015. Average net monthly earnings, excluding family tax benefits, were HUF 175,000. In 2016, family tax benefits changed significantly in regards to families with two children, which impacted net earnings. If family tax benefits are factored in, then the average monthly net earnings were HUF 182,200, according to KSH data.
