Hungary seeks to reduce tenders for EU funds use

31 January 2013

Instead of issuing tenders, the Hungarian government said it would like to establish a new way to allocate European funds. “The government is considering how to raise the amount of European Union funding that is allocated in Hungary without tenders,” said the state secretary for economic strategy. He added that the current system often results in project delays. The government is considering integrating the activities of the National Development Agency, which currently oversees EU funding payouts, with the state secretariats in the future. The goal is to establish an institutional system that can respond to the social and business sectors in the most efficient way.
