The Hungarian government’s investment into road and railway projects is expected to hit €15bn by 2022, according to Laszlo Mosoczi, the state secretary of transport at the ministry of innovation and technology. More than 1,000 km of rail tracks are set to be upgraded as part of a large-scale plan that will lead to the use of more electrified lines, Mosoczi said, adding that upgrades to the Budapest-Belgrade railway line are scheduled for completion in 2024.
