Deputy State Secretary Szabolcs Takács said the government will provide $260,000 in aid to help civilians in war-torn Syria. Takács made the announcement during a UN-sponsored international donors’ conference in Kuwait City. Takács said the money will be used to buy food supplies and cover medical costs for children seriously injured in the conflict. Hungary’s diplomatic core left Syria in the middle of January, leaving the Czech and Romanian contingents the only two remaining EU nations with a diplomatic presence in the country.
