ID Logistics, one of the European leaders in contract logistics, announced the completion of the acquisition of 100% shares of the American company Kane Logistics.
Kane Logistics is a value-added contract logistics and warehouse services company founded in 1930 in the United States by the Kane family. From 2019, Kane Logistics accelerated the transformation process to become a major player in US contract logistics, working mainly with well-known consumer goods, food and beverages producers and retail specialists.
The changes were carried out by a team of managers with solid operational experience gained in large contract logistics companies, such as Ryder or Jacobson Companies (a logistics company based in the US, acquired in 2014 by Norbert Dentressangle).
Since 2019, Kane Logistics has experienced 20% annual revenue growth, reaching $ 235 million in 2021. It currently has 20 logistics centers nationwide (especially in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois and California) covering an area of 725,000 sqm.
The acquisition of Kane Logistics is of great importance due to the proximity of corporate cultures, complementary customer portfolio and wide opportunities for business cooperation with ID Logistics. Kane Logistics presents a business model very similar to the ID Logistics model: “asset light”, dedicated warehouses, solutions tailored to the specific needs of each client. The same approach to customer service based on the principle of “key account” will enable us to offer joint solutions in the United States and Europe.
Combined with the existing US operations of ID Logistics, the new branch will have a pro forma turnover of $ 350 million in 2021. His diverse client portfolio will include companies from the consumer goods, retail and e-commerce industries. Currently, ID Logistics US employs nearly 3,000. employees in 26 branches located throughout the country.
Stan Schrader, Commercial Director of Kane Logistics, has been appointed CEO of ID Logistics US. Its goal is to maintain a high level of organic growth and implement business synergies resulting from the merger. Stan Schrader attaches great importance to the quality of service provided to clients and ensures:
“I am very pleased and motivated to manage the new business unit in North America. ID Logistics offers us a unique opportunity to continue our development in our market and brings complementary know-how to the activities of Kane Logistics. The proximity to our company’s culture and strategy is simply amazing and is a real guarantee for future success,” said Stan Schrader, Commercial Director of Kane Logistics.
ID Logistics has great ambitions in the United States
Two years after entering the US market, after taking over the logistics operations of Nespresso, the ID Logistics Group has secured new opportunities and means to fulfill its ambitions in a region with such great potential. After the acquisition, the size of ID Logistics, management and organization should enable the development of business synergies. They will also ensure strong growth in an area that will constitute a significant part of the Group’s operations in the medium term.
Eric Hémar, President and CEO of ID Logistics said, “The acquisition of Kane Logistics is a new, strategic step in the history of our Group. It opens up new, promising development opportunities, especially in the field of customer service in the industrial and consumer goods industries. We have gained a team of experienced and dynamic managers who are committed to our values.”
