Despite the difficult market, IKEA managed to improve its results in Poland last year. Sales for its Polish business grew by 12.2 percent in 2012, coming in at PLN 1.91bn. This made Poland the third most profitable region for the company worldwide, following Russia and China.
IKEA Group posted a net profit of €3.2bn, an 8-percent increase compared with 2011, and sales reached €27bn (+9.5 percent).
IKEA said it owes its success to sharp cuts made within the company, as well as price reductions for its products over the last decade. IKEA manages a global team of 139,000 employees, of which 47 percent are women. At the beginning of the year, IKEA made Evelyn Higler managing director of its Polish business.
