IMF: Bulgarian economy may grow by 3% in 2017

23 November 2016

European Commission and the International Monetary Fund expect the Bulgarian economy will grow between 2.5 percent and 3 percent in 2017. However, some economists warn that the country’s political instability could hamper GDP growth.

“The latest events in Bulgaria will have a negative impact on GDP growth, and it will probably be around 2 percent,” said Desislava Nikolova, chief economist at the Institute for Market Economics.
