International Monetary Fund delegates will be in Budapest from Jan. 16 until Jan. 28. IMF officials, however, have dismissed claims that the visit is to negotiate financial support for Hungary. Iryna Ivaschenko, the Hungarian representative for the IMF, said the purpose of the visit will be to conduct a routine economic review, which is required for countries that receive economic aid. Hungary received aid from both the IMF and the EU in 2008.
