Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán inaugurated the new Gedeon Richter biotechnological works at Debrecen with Lajos Kósa, mayor of Budapest, and Erik Bogsch, CEO of the Hungarian-controlled pharmaceutical company. Construction on the facility began in 2008 as a greenfield investment in a industrial park in Debrecen. The HUF 15bn investment received HUF 1.384bn in state support and will provide 110 new jobs to the region.
