Industrial turnover increased by 3.6% thru November

10 January 2013

Turnover in the Romanian industry sector increased by 3.6 percent between January and November 2012, compared with the same period of the previous year, according to National Institute of Statistics (INS). The turnover was mainly due to increases seen in the extractive (+5.4 percent) and manufacturing industries (+3.5 percent).

Turnover increases were reported during this period in all sectors: durable goods (+12.7 percent), energy (+8.1percent), convenience goods (+5.6 percent), intermediate goods (+2.5 percent) and capital goods (+0.4 percent).

But the news was less positive for the months of October and November, when overall industrial turnover fell 2.8 percent between October and November thanks largely to decreases seen in the extractive (-6.9 percent) and manufacturing industries (-2.6 percent).

Declines were reported during this period in all sectors: energetic (-7.0 percent), intermediate goods (-4.3 percent), durable goods (-1.9 percent), capital goods (-0.9 percent) and convenience goods (-0.9 percent).
