Turnover on the Romanian industrial market increased by 0.5 percent in July compared with the previous month. According to National Institute of Statistics (INS), that is 5 percent higher than July 2011, due in part to increases in the mining industry (17.9 percent) and in the manufacturing industry (+4.6 percent).
Furthermore, turnover in the country’s industrial sector increased 3.3 percent during the first seven months of 2012, compared with the same period last year, the INS reported.
Turnover in the manufacturing sector increased 0.6 percent in July, while turnover in the mining industry decreased by 0.4 percent. The main industrial groups that reported increases in turnover were in the energy industry (+17.6 percent), the capital goods industry (+2.4 percent) and the durable goods industry (+2.3 percent). Meanwhile, decreases were reported in the current goods industry (-4.4 percent) and the intermediate goods industry (-2.0 percent).
