The Polish company InPost has made major inroads in the Czech Republic, having expanded its network of parcel lockers to 100 in the last 18 months. Eventually, reports Hospodářské noviny, the company intends to open a total of 350 locations across the country. The paper writes that its lockers are used by 118 online shops. “We’re thinking about linking up with some of the integrated logistics operators that would allow us to expand the service to over 1000 e-shops,” says the company’s director Dana Englichová. The Czech online giant Alza is also offering parcel locker services that allow customers to order goods in the morning and pick them up in the evening of the same day. Česká pošta is also due to bring out its own parcel locker offering but has been delayed by objections from the anti-monopoly office.
