INS: Construction volume up by 6.7% in January

Construction output on the Romanian market increased by 6.7 percent y-o-y in January, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). The construction volume increased for residential buildings by 11.4 percent, while non-residential buildings were up by 8.2 percent and construction engineering increased by 3.9 percent. Maintenance and current repair works were up by 28.7 percent, and new construction works increased by 1.5 percent. Capital repair works, on the other hand, decreased by 1.2 percent.

The construction volume, meanwhile, decreased by 73.5 percent in January compared to December 2015. Capital repair works decreased by 82.9 percent, and new construction works fell by 72.3 percent. Maintenance and current repair works also dropped by 69.2 percent.
