InterAgro invests €21m in energy plant

21 January 2013

The InterArgro group of companies, controlled by the businessman Ioan Niculae, invested €21m plus VAT into a 20 MW co-generation plant located at the Donau Chemical plant complex in Turnu Magurele.

Mediafax reported that construction of the plant started in 2008, but that it hadn’t become operational until last week, with three generators of 6.75 MW/h each and three steam recovery units.

The electricity will be used by the chemical works, which produces fertilizers, and the steam will serve in the technological processes of the plant. The investment will reduce the plant’s consumption of fuel (methane) and electricity, reducing the plant’s CO2 emissions.
