The news website Lidovky.cz claims that investigators in the David Rath corruption case have a good deal more evidence against the contractor Metrostav than was previously known. The server says it has transcripts of secretly taped discussions between the head of the Kladno hospital in which she discusses with the manager of Metrostav how to arrange a CZK 227m tender how to ensure that Metrostav won the order. She recommends basing some of the price on equipment that would be used by a new wing of the hospital. Investigators believe Metrostav was supposed to pay David Rath, the former governor of the Central Bohemian region, 10 percent of the value of the bid, an accusation the firm has always denied. Rath was nabbed by police with millions of Czech crowns in cash in his car and a search of his home found further millions stashed away.
