The residential tower project Ister Tower is currently awaiting planning approval, following the submission of documentation for the 33-storey structure. IT II is the project company which is being led by the developer The Galata Group, owned by Matúš Trajter. The company launched an online campaign in recent days to bring attention to the scheme, which is being built on a triangular-shaped plot in Bratislava on the site of a former oil refinery. Designed by the studio P.S. Arch, the tower will rise to over 100 meter and offer roughly 400 apartments. The online portal YIMBA notes that its design is remarkably similar to the Aqua Tower building in Chicago but that the developer claims inspiration was drawn from the dynamism of the nearby Danube river. It also suggests that the size of the project would be appropriate for some of Bratislava’s larger development players, given the potential risks of such a brownfield site and current uncertainty over the future direction of the real estate market.
