Istrofinal is redeveloping a former industrial area in the city of Žilina into a new neighborhood. The developer bought the 6.5 ha site, located between Ulica republiky, Kukučínova and Štefánikova streets, last year. Elektrárne Žilina will offer 70 flats and 4,000 sqm of space for retail and services. The scheme will also offer a small market, kindergarden and healthcare center. Martin Jančok and Michal Janák from the Plural architectural studio will design the redevelopment, which will include the reconstruction of a protected functionalist office building and the revitalization of the site’s power plant.
