Instead of postponing the increase in annual rents due to the crisis, Dutch landlords are often opting for more moderate increases than usual. The Dutch property group IVBN advised its members to limit the increase in rents to just 1 percent above inflation instead of adding on 2.5 percent as is usual due to the crisis. Inflation was 1.4 percent in April, and 2.6 percent at the end of 2019.
Amvest, with over 20,000 tenants, is increasing its rents by 2.6 percent. Vesteda, a property company with 27,000 rental properties, says it will be increasing rents by an average of 2.5 percent. Another property company, Sintrus Achmea, will be increasing rents by inflation plus one percent.
