Jacob Freund and Gonen Shlomo are building a mixed-use project in Bucharest’s Lahovari area, which will include a hotel, offices, shops and a casino. The Israeli investors have been trying to get their project approved by city hall for more than nine years. City officials rejected the project numerous times, citing that the planned buildings, to go up between four historic monuments, were too tall for the area. Freund and Shlomo sued the General Council of Bucharest for the delays and finally got approval to break ground on their project, though the buildings can only have three floors, according to local news reports.
