Construction of the industrial park in Nitra, that should accommodate the Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing plant, has been delayed. Originally the park was scheduled for completion in mid-2016, and work on the new Jaguar plant should have started by the same time. The new schedule shifts the start of construction of the plant to the end of 2016, with production scheduled to begin in 2018/19. Sme.sk points to the EIA assessment as a reason for the delay. The Environment Ministry had not initially demanded an EIA to be carried out for the plant, however, a complaint by a Nitra citizen has brought the case to the court. Strabag has been working on the site already for a few months already. The plant, to cost €1.4bn, is expected to create a total of 14,500 new jobs.
