Surpassing even the most pessimistic expectations, Poland’s unemployment rate came in at 14.2 percent in January, a 0.8-percent jump from the previous month, according to figures released by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. According to the report, the jobless increased 0.7 percent year-on-year.
Earlier this month, the deputy minister of labor and social policy, Jacek Męcin, said the jobless rate could reach just 14 percent, adding it will continue to fall in February.
