Jihozápad in Moravská Třebová is ready for six residential buildings to be constructed

19 July 2023

Six apartment buildings with 132 flats will be built in Moravská Třebová in the Svitavsko region within a few years. The town has signed a contract with a construction company. The city has been preparing the Jihozápad site for housing construction for several years, it was announced.

The company enteria will buy the land and has signed a future purchase agreement with the city. The zoning plan allows apartments to be built in the area from 2010. The study and the reseeding of the land took the city several years. Trebova’s population has been declining in recent years; housing supply could halt the decline.

“We are glad that by taking gradual steps we have managed to find a solution to the problem of unaffordable housing in our town. Thanks to the housing construction in the Jihozápad locality, we will be able to counteract the trend of population outflow from recent years much more effectively and further increase the attractiveness of our town for potential new citizens,” said Mayor Pavel Charvát (ODS).

The city wanted the area to have a lot of greenery to make it attractive for its residents. The green space will cover more than 60 percent of the area. The roundabout in Svitavská Street will provide traffic services. There will be over 200 resident parking spaces on the site.

The land for residential buildings and other infrastructure covers 16,170 square metres. The developer will also build a shopping centre on the site, with greenery and architectural elements separating the residential and commercial areas.

“The construction of the apartment buildings is expected to be divided into three separate phases, so the new residential units will be available gradually. The investor must first ensure all the necessary stages of design and technical preparation, so we can expect the first stage of construction work to start in 2026,” Deputy Mayor Václav Dokoupil (KDU-ČSL).
