A meat processing in the city of KapuvĂĄr abruptly stopped production on Wednesday and sent its employees home. Itâs unclear when it will be reopened, but the trade union is staging a protest outside the factory tomorrow. Rumors that the factory was in trouble emerged earlier this month when the factoryâs president, FoltĂĄny ĂrpĂĄd, resigned following tax evasion charges. The factoryâs closure would put at stake nearly 800 jobs at stake.
Portfolio.hu reports that a government minister said “In order to clarify the situation and protect the jobs the government will take the necessary steps and classifies both companies in the KapuvĂĄr meat concern as highly important from national strategic aspects.”
