Barclays appointed John McFarlane its new chairman. McFarlane, currently chairman of the UK insurance company Aviva PLC, will step into his new position on Jan. 1, replacing David Walker. The appointment has already been approved by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority. McFarlane was previously the chief executive at the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. Adrian Montague will replace McFarlane as Aviva chairman.
