JTRE has submitted EIA documentation for major new project it believes could help establish Bratislava as an important destination for international congresses. Its €100m Eurovea City Congress project will serve as a venue for a wide range of cultural and social events of all sizes, including conferences for up to 2,000 people. The company sees the new investment not just as a way to enhance the value of its entire Eurovea City scheme, but to increase the Slovak capital’s visibility in the world.
“Bratislava has so far been missing out on the great business opportunities presented by the congress business. We had initially only considered a multi-functional congress project with a limited local role. However, as we delved deeper into understanding the functions and potential of a congress centre, we concluded that the proposed Eurovea City Congress project could be a major European congress centre. Bratislava’s assertion on the European congress map is in all our interests,” says Pavel Pelikan, JTRE’s managing director.
