After three consecutive months of decline, Hungarian consumer prices on market increased slightly by 0.1 percent y-o-y and 0.2 percent m-o-m in July, according to data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) this week. Prices dropped 0.3 percent in June and 0.1 percent in May and April. Analysts had been predicting the country’s CPI for July would be zero. However the data points to no significant price increases, according to KSH officials.
“During this period, besides lower prices for electricity, gas and other fuels, as well as clothing and footwear, food and consumer durable goods, a price rise was observed in case of alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as services and other goods, motor fuels,” KSH said in a statement.
