Kaczyński announces a self-amendment, increasing military spending to 3% of GDP in 2023.

Introduction of a self-amendment to the draft law on the defense of Poland, assuming an increase in military spending to 3% of GDP in 2023 and their gradual further increase in the following years, announced Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński. The first reading of this bill is in progress in the Sejm.

“This program will be an expensive, very expensive program. Since we would like to implement it within five years, we have to be clear: we are not able to create such funds from the state budget and other sources to implement it. part of the project is as follows: part of the expenditure is budget expenditure, and here will be a 3% GDP amendment to the armaments budget as early as next year, we will increase it later. credit expenses,” said Kaczyński in the Sejm.

“Also very long-term, from bonds, to some extent also those that can be redeemed. In short: it will not be such a burden as would result from such sums, about which – for various reasons, I will not talk about it here, because at the moment they cannot be fully calculated,” he added.

The draft law on the defense of the Fatherland in the version adopted by the government assumed acceleration of the planned increase in expenditure on the army to 2.3% in 2023 and to 2.5% in 2024 and subsequent years (compared to 2.2% of GDP this year).

The assessment of the effects of the regulations on the draft (in the version adopted by the government) assumed an increase in expenditure from the state budget for this purpose by PLN 2,902.3 million in 2023, by PLN 6,154.3 million in 2024, by PLN 6,515.3 in 2025. In total PLN 30,685 million.

The auto-amendment and other corrections are to be submitted during further work on the project.
