Architect Roman Kaucký may be renominated as head of the preparatory team of Prague’s new Metropolitan Plan. Kaucký was forced to resign from his post at the Institute for Planning and Development (IPR) by the deputy mayor for city planning, Petra Kolínská, who also removed the IPR director, architect Petr Hlaváček, about two months ago. Hlaváček was reportedly fired because Kolínská was not satisfied with Kaucký’s work. Since then, work on the vital planning document came to a halt. Ondřej Boháč, the temporary IPR director, warns that Kaucký is the only person capable of completing the new master plan. The Metropolitan Plan, which developers are eagerly awaiting, should have been completed last year, but it now looks like it won’t likely be finalized until 2022.
