Kaufland profits up despite new store openings

Kaufland made a profit of CZK 3.08bn in 2017/2018 according to its most recent annual report. That marked an increase of 56 percent driven by revenues that rose just 1 percent to CZK 57.6bn. In its press release accompanying the numbers, Kaufland predicted similar growth during the coming year. Profits rose despite the company’s investment of €120m into the construction of four new stores and the modernization of seven existing ones. At the moment, Kaufland runs 132 stores across the Czech Republic making it the grocery retailers with the highest revenues.
