Kiwi.com, an online travel agency based in Brno, reported CZK 8bn in revenue in 2016. The company quadrupled its earnings in a single year and is planning to continue its expansion. Originally branded as Skypicker, Kiwi.com is still behind the global leader, US-based Expedia, which earned $8.7bn (CZK 220bn) in 2016. Kiwi’s founder, Oliver Dlouhý, told Hospodářské noviny that revenue could hit €1bn (CZK 27bn) this year, if the company continues to grow as quickly as it did in 2016 across key markets in North America, Europe and Asia. He also said that passengers can save as much as 80 percent on airline tickets with Kiwi compared to other online travel sites, thanks to the special algorithm the company uses.
