Klatovy factory producing ARIANE 6 rocket parts

4 November 2019

A new production facility in the southern Czech town of Klatovy will be playing a role in the production of ARIANE 6 rockets. The CZK 19m facility has begun production of parts that will be used for a start that’s planned at the end of 2020, said the chief executive of ATC Space, a subsidiary of Aerotech Peissenberg and part of the German OHB group. The company currently has 25 employees, but this number is expected to rise to 60 by the end of next year when it will be running three shifts. “It’s the most sophisticated production in our industrial zone,” the mayor of Klatovy told the Czech News Agency, adding that companies in Klatovy were already involved in the production of the ARIANE 5 launch vehicle. ATC Space’s director Pavel Dobeš says there’s a chance that a new R&D center could be established in Klatovy for systems engineering.
