The town of Kopřivnice in the Novojičínsko region wants to convert the extension of the former Náměstí Primary School into flats. The councilors approved the conditions of the public tender for the designer. The city could apply for a building permit at the end of the year, according to Lucie Macháčková, a spokeswoman for the Kopřivnice town hall.
“According to a study prepared by the architecture department, 19 flats are to be built in the building from the 1980s,” she said. In the three-storey building, 17 flats of size 1 + KK to 3 + KK and two more luxurious flats 4 + KK with a terrace on the roof extension are to be built.
“Each apartment will have at least one parking space, either in the basement of the building or in the yard. There is also a garden or playground for residents,” said one of the study’s authors, Lenka Krhovjáková.
Kopřivnice will try the Design and Build method on the project for the first time. “The designer should prepare the study only in the phase for issuing the building permit. The implementation documentation and the implementation itself will then be the subject of another public contract. The advantage of this procedure is that the contracting authority does not have to resolve one company is worried, “said Jiří Štěpán from the city development department.
The project does not include the historic school building from the early 20th century. A library should be established in the future.
Kopřivnice owns 787 common flats and another 130 special-purpose flats. “However, there are far more people on the waiting lines than the city’s flats will release. Housing support has therefore been one of the city’s top priorities for a long time,” she said.
