Korean Air Cargo has begun direct service between Seoul and Budapest on a twice-per week schedule. The move follows the growing importance of South Korea as an investor in Hungary, with factories such as Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI, Hanon Systems, SK Innovation and Doosan located within 90 minutes of the airport. The fact that a Boeing 777F aircraft will be able to offer regular deliveries to Hungary will help make doing business in the country far more efficient for these companies.
Budapest Airport CEO Rolf Schnitzler said the new link to South Korea was an important step in increasing the airport’s regional importance. “The direct aerial connection is not only a huge advantage for Hungarian and international companies, but also an opportunity for Hungary and the Hungarian capital airport to become the number one cargo hub in the region,” said Schnitzler.
