38% of Poles are afraid of poverty, while every fifth is completely confident about their financial future, according to the National Debt Register (KRD) “Portfolio of a statistical Pole in a pandemic”. When asked “How will the financial situation of your household change in the next year?” 44% of respondents say that it will remain the same, and 33% that it will get worse.
In the latest study ‘Portfolio of a statistical Pole in a pandemic’, the National Debt Register asked their compatriots whether they had money savings. 43% of respondents admitted that they had no savings, 7% refused to answer, and 50% confirmed that they had no money saved. a rainy day additional financial resources. Most often they are men, people aged 18-34, working and with higher education. Almost the same number, 48% of respondents, admitted, however, that the amount of money they put aside decreased in the pandemic. % Of Poles forecast that in the next 12 months the level of their savings will drop even more, according to KRD.
On the opposite side are people whose savings have increased (15%). These are most often young people (18-34), living with their parents, studying or working remotely, who returned to their family homes due to the pandemic. The percentage of optimists who believe that they will manage to multiply the funds saved in the near future is 18%.
The decline in savings is not the only negative effect of the pandemic. Poles also do not evaluate their current financial situation very well. 7% of them admit that they have so much money that they can afford anything. 64% of the respondents can afford much, but not everything, while 27% of the respondents assess their situation as bad. 2% of compatriots admit to a very bad situation, when there are not enough funds for even the most necessary things, KRD further indicated.
45% of Poles admit that the financial situation of their households has worsened in the pandemic. Not much less (43%) believe that it has not changed at all. That the situation has improved, indicates every eighth respondent.
“The reasons for the change for the worse are primarily the increase in prices of products and services (82% of responses) and an increase in current expenses (52%). Interestingly, the deterioration of the financial situation is perceived more often by women than men. The nationwide survey “A statistical portfolio of a Pole in a pandemic” was carried out in December 2021 by TGM Research at the request of the National Debt Register of the Economic Information Bureau using the Internet interview technique (CAWI) on a representative sample of Poles aged 18-74. A total of 1,004 interviews were conducted.
