Křetínský reduces size of Prague 7 retail, office project

The Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský has reduced the size of a project he is planning on Prague 7’s Letna plain after pressure from the municipality. It’s expected he will submit a revised version of the project by the end of the year. The original project, which Křetínský submitted for approval last summer, called for a training facility near the Sparta Prague football stadium (near the entrance to the Blanka tunnel) to be taken down and replaced with a shopping center called Galerie Sparta. Next to it, he planned to build new offices in a project called Letná Office Park in an investment that would include the construction of new flats. The project made it through the EIA process and won approvals from Prague city officials. Prague 6 and Prague 7 rejected the plan, however, saying the buildings were too high. The two municipalities continue to hold talks with the investor in an effort to find a solution that wouldn’t upset local residents. “The investor is accepting our comments and is trying to work them into the project,” Prague 7’s spokesman Martin Vokuš told idnes.cz.
