Kulczyk: EU can’t afford to rescue Greece

1 October 2012

The influential Polish businessman Jan Kulczyk is questioning whether EU funds going to the Greece rescue package could be better spent in Africa, where there is more opportunity to create a new market that would benefit Europe in the long-run.
“We should consider if we can afford to spend €330bn on Greece, where 8 million people live, so it will not go bankrupt,” said Kulczyk. “We could give €13bn to rescue people who are dying of hunger in Africa. China is now expanding in Africa, spending €20m in aid, while we rescue Greece.” Kulczyk added: “Greece is a poor country of the rich people, while Africa is a rich continent of poor people.”
