Construction output on the Latvian market fell 6.2 percent y-o-y to €500.5m in the last three months of 2015, according to the country’s central statistical bureau (CSB). Construction of buildings dropped 8.5 percent, while civil engineering structural works fell by 3.9 percent. On the other hand, work on harbors, waterways and dams increased by 59 percent, while the construction of pipelines and cables was up by 30.5 percent and by 6.5 percent for bridges and tunnels.
A total of 2,038 building permits were granted in 2015 for construction, capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of single-dwelling buildings, while 1,383 permits were granted for the construction of new single-dwelling buildings. There were 296 permits issued for the construction of industrial buildings and warehouses last year.
