Latvia’s foreign trade turnover up 10.8%

Foreign trade turnover on the Latvian market increased by 10.3 percent in February compared to the previous month, according to provisional data released by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). Exports were up 9.5 percent, while imports rose by 11.8 percent. Latvia exported €778.5m worth of goods and imported €918m worth of goods for the month. Wood exports were up 19.4 percent m-o-m, while machinery, appliances and electronics were up 17.3 percent. Basic metal exports jumped by 29.6 percent from the previous month and prepared foodstuffs rose by 15.7 percent.

Latvia’s main EU export partners in February were Lithuania (16.4 percent of total exports), Estonia (12.6 percent), Germany (7.4 percent) and the UK (5.7 percent). Its main import partners included Lithuania (16.6 percent of total imports), Germany (12.1 percent), Poland (11.3 percent) and Estonia (7.9 percent).
