The Swiss government has injected €46.3m into the Latvian economy over the last several years. Latvia has now received 89 percent of the funds it’s eligible for under the Swiss-Latvian Cooperation Program. The program was set up to support projects related to regional development, environmental improvements, education, research, court modernization, the private sector and NGOs. Most have the projects have already been implemented, with Swiss representatives stating during the 8th annual meeting of the Swiss-Latvian Cooperation Program this month that Latvia could serve as a role model to other countries interested in forming a similar partnership, according to the Latvian Finance Ministry. The Swiss-Latvian Cooperation Program is set to close in June 2017.
