Lease cancelled in Moscow?

31 January 2016

According to Inkom-real estate, there have been no recorded cases of leases being cancelled between landlords in Moscow and their Turkish tenants following the imposition of sanctions against Turkey on Nov. 28, and their tightening on Dec. 28. Despite fears of retaliation over the diplomatic dispute between the two nations, the company’s study noted that from late 2015 to early 2016 “foreign renters showed no radical changes in behavioral patterns.” In total, the number of apartments leased during the holiday season fell 4.5 percent compared to the same period a year ago.

Incom-Real Estate said that about 60 percent of Turks leasing homes in Moscow live in the Southeast district, where there are many markets, warehouses, as well as the MEGA Belaya Dacha shopping center. Business owners of Turkish companies, it wrote, tend to “choose apartments closer to the center of the capital.
