Lennar Homes is to break ground next week on an $80m, 300-home community in Winter Garden. The master planned community named Summerlake is located between Independence and Hamlin in the Horizon West area of West Orange County. Lennar, Central Florida’s second largest production home builder based on 2013 housing starts, bought the 110 acre site in December for $20 million, or $180,996 per acre from a subsidiary of Starwood Land Ventures. The developer is finishing a model home this week in Summerlake and will begin work on its first new homes starting in the beginning of February, according to Lennar’s Orlando division president Brock Nicholas.
