The cost to build a prefabricated house has grown by EUR 16-20.000, with the average price for a fully constructed house is around EUR 80-90.000. There are a few factors behind this. One is a VAT increase on construction materials, the other is higher costs of labour. According to the National Federation of Hungarian Building Contractors there has been a strong decline in demand for new construction of homes, with only one out of three or four purchasers wanting to order a prefabricated house as opposed to 90 percent of the buyers in 2019.
