Lithuanian railway operator Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai signed a freight forwarding agreement with DB Cargo. The deal, signed in Moscow last week, is expected to help drive freight traffic for the state-owned company’s Rail Baltica line.
“Our customers’ Western-bound rail freight will reach the destination on time and under the best possible terms and conditions. This will strengthen the company’s position in the freight market,” said Stasys Dailydka, the CEO of Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai.
Germany’s DB Cargo is the largest rail freight company on the European market. It carries more than 330 million tons of freight on an annual basis. Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai carried 48 million tons of freight last year.
