Life and housing insurance were the most dynamic segments of the Romanian insurance market in 2011, making up to some extent for reduced rates of overall insurance policy sales. According to preliminary figures, prepared by the Insurance Supervisory Commission, the total gross volume of policies stood at over RON 7.9bn, a 4.30% decrease from the RON 8.3bn achieved in 2010. According to President of the Insurance Supervisory Commission, Constantin Buzoianu, even the 2010 result was down 6.36% from policies signed in 2009.
